The very popular Na Fianna Nursery returns this weekend, Saturday September 3rd. We've put together some FAQs for people with young children interested in joining in - please do pass this on to anyone who's considering introducing their children to GAA this Autumn...
When can my child join Nursery?
This year, Nursery caters for boys and girls born between 2015 and 2017. Children born in 2018 are eligible to join the 2017 groups once they have passed their 4th birthday.
What sports are done at Nursery?
Nursery covers Gaelic football, hurling/camogie, handball, rounders, and athletic development. Children are introduced to these sports in an age-appropriate fashion, following a curriculum designed by a team of expert coaches within Na Fianna.
When and where does Nursery take place?

What do I need to do before attending for the first time?
There are a number of steps that must be completed BEFORE you first attend. All of these steps must be completed by 8pm on Thursday to attend Nursery on the Saturday.
1. Membership of the Nursery is €85. This can be paid in 4 instalments here.
2. Please fill in your child’s detail with a screenshot of your membership here.
3. You will be added to the appropriate WhatsApp group on the Friday after joining.
What do I need to do every week?
On a weekly basis, please follow these rules:
1. Know what colour group your child has been assigned to. They should be brought straight to this colour group and be ready for the warm up.
2. A parent/guardian MUST remain for the full duration of the session.
Can I volunteer to help?
Absolutely! Nursery could not function without the involvement of parent/guardian volunteers. There are a number of roles to suit a wide range of people, ranging from helping out with timekeeping to coaching. The commitment is only from week to week, as you are available. No previous experience in either coaching or Gaelic Games is needed, as full training is provided by the club. If you are in a position to volunteer in any capacity, please contact the lead mentor for your group, once you are added to the relevant WhatsApp group. Please don’t wait to be asked – more volunteers are always welcome!
