Gradam Brian MacCraith was established to celebrate the community partnership between DCU and CLG Na Fianna. A specially commissioned trophy crafted by local silversmith Séamus Gill and named in recognition of Brian MacCraith, past-President of DCU, who had an important role in developing this partnership, was created. Prof. MacCraith kindly took time from his duties as Chair of the National immunisation Committee to present the eponymous trophy to its inaugural recipient Eddie Mongey last weekend.

It is to be presented annually to a young Na Fianna member (<19 yr), who has shown remarkable enthusiasm for club activity, volunteerism re fundraising or community outreach, leadership by example, or assisting others without seeking limelight.

Na Fianna Chairman Paul Smith conveyed our club's appreciation of the partnership, illustrated by the ongoing use of hundreds of young Na Fianna members availing of the wonderful facility at DCU St. Patrick's College on a near-daily basis. He also commended Eddie for epitomising the values espoused by Gradam Brian MacCraith, through his dual-code play, mentoring of younger players, refereeing externally and commitment to vulnerable members of our wider community during the pandemic.

Our presentation was watched by our Iar-Chathaoirleach Cormac Ó Donnchú (who was pivotal to developing this partnership), Eddie's parents Phillip and Ruth and his older brother Peter.
